HUMPHREY OSCAR OTITA - BRIEF AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Hi there:

I am glad you have taken your time to visit my web-site. Let me start by giving you a little autobiography.

I was born and raised in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. If you are a Kenyan, you will be familiar with St. Anne's nursery school, Parklands Primary , Starehe Boys' and Kenyatta University. I had to go through them to get to where I am now - the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, USA.

My best subjects in school have always been Math and Physics. I also loved the languages - English, Deutsch (German) and Swahili. I sill remember a lot of my German. Computers have always been a passion - no wonder I couldn't wait to teach myself how to build web-pages and get this stuff out on the web.

As a boy, I loved soccer (or football, depending on which English you speak!). I still follow it a little bit, but am more keen on basketball (bako in Sheng - a slang language which is a mix of English, Swahili and other local languages of Kenya) and American football as an adult. Other childhood hobbies included Stamp Collecting and the Boy Scouts. Right now, I have other interests.

My favorite spots in Kenya include shaggs (for that much needed vacation), NPC (for spiritual edification), home and Cactus (Cacto). Many people say Cacto is for posers, but let every man and woman be true to themselves! Mang'ula, do you still hang out there a lot? How 'bout Anderson and the rest of them?

Wanna know where I have worked? Institute of Advanced Technology, Bob Matthews Stockbrokers, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Upper Hill School and Premier College.

I am currently studying for an MBA (Master of Business Administration, for those who don't know what it spells out). My concentrations are MIS and (Marketing or Finance). Life in school is good, but extremely busy and challenging. The Iowa MBA is definitely not a summer holiday.

The Vine, The Airliner, GA Malones are places in Iowa City that I like. Forget The Union and The Field House - I think am growing old!

I live with a German and a Russiam - talk about International links. My biography would be incomplete without commending them for being good. My parents also deserve to be mentioned here. They have been with me all the way. I have a million friends and cannot list them all. But, a shout goes out to Andrew, Esho, Grace, Karen, Chriso, Douggy, Dr. Opiyo and Mama Njeri. Y'all know yourselves. Last and most important is DeAngela. You are very wonderful and special. God bless us!

Closing remarks:

The heights by great men found and kept;

Were not attained by sudden flight;

But they while their companions slept;

Were toiling upwards in the night.
